Kara is amazing! I couldn't recommend someone more highly. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional, kind, has a calming personality, and is a true wise woman. I had my first child with Kara by my side through the journey of pregnancy and a water home birth. I felt so safe not just physically but emotionally with her. We chose to have a second child and I knew I wanted Kara to do my prenatal care and have another water birth. My daughter came to some of our visits and Kara had toys for her and let her listen on to the heart beat. During labor the water helped relieve so much pain. I came to Kara when I was 20 weeks with my baby beyond let me just tell you I had the best experience with her and her student Evie. This was my first baby so having such calm energy right off the get-go I just knew I could feel safe and secure with doing a homebirth not to mention they calmed my husband who was not fully on board with me having a home birth until We met Kara and Evie and answered all of the questions that we had. During my labor it was very peaceful, quiet, calming and all around the best experience I could have had for my first child. During my labor I really felt like they both listen to my needs and helped me through my intense four hours of pushing!! I couldn’t recommend a better midwife then these two!!

I came to Kara at 35 weeks pregnant because I just couldn't take the constant scare tactics of my regular OB. I wanted an HBAC2 and after talking about all that meant and my history, Kara had every confidence that I could be successful and have the birth I'd been dreaming of. I drove over 30 minutes each way to see her and each time brought my two young daughters with me and the girls just loved her too. She was so great with them during my appointments, not treating them like they were a nuisance. When it came time for the birth, Kara was so supportive and helped me find a strength I didn't know I had in me. The most relaxing pregnancy I’ve ever had was when I got to have Kara from beginning to end. She’s been there for two of my babies and I’ll never go back to hospitals ever again. Kara stepped back and Had Evie, her then birth assistant take over for my last birth and it was an incredible experience. I felt comfortable and as a person who usually struggles to give birth in the presence of other people, that was a big deal.

This was such an empowering experience working with Bright Beginnings for my 3rd homebirth. I felt that my unique situation and needs were recognized and worked with resulting in a incredibly beautiful and safe water birth of my little one. The baby was a whole pound bigger than my last! It was such a pleasure getting to know Kara and her students at Bright Beginnings. Their Knowledge and capabilities are invaluable to the homebirthing community.
