Brattleboro Memorial Hospital

Had to take my significant other to the ER for severe dizziness and weakness-possible stroke. We were greeted with compassion and professionalism from the early start to the very late end. Yes, an ER visit is a time suck, but that is the way of it anywhere. The young tech who did the EKG was kind and had a great attitude even though it was his 12th hour on the clock! My partner was his last patient of the long day. Even though it was a busy night, everyone was kind, thoughtful, took time to explain everything that was going to happen clearly, and Dr Quimby (sp?) was terrific. We could hear the staff’s compassion and professionalism with other patients too, making us really appreciate them and feel that we were in good hands. Thank you all! 👏👏👏👏❤️

So sad to say that it's easy to tell (imo) that this hospital is on its last legs...yet also obvious is that some of the staff does their absolute best and I am so grateful to them. Overall the size and availability of this hospital feels manageable, without feeling out-of-date, and the front desk personnel are polite and some very competent. HOWEVER, a huge red flag is that there is NO PHYSICAL BILLING DEPARTMENT. Which on its own, especially for a facility of this size is SO sketchy... I have heard multiple tales of mismanaged funds, and the way that services are rendered often causes (in my personal experience) overcharges, misinformation/crossed lines, outsourcing of behind the scenes processes, difficulty being able to make corrections or payments if adjustments are needed, and billin

I was admitted from 12/10/2025 to 12/14/2025 for acute, severe abdominal pain. During my hospitalization, I experienced unprofessional and disrespectful treatment, particularly from a nurse named Jess. I felt I was spoken to in a dismissive and demeaning manner and was not treated with appropriate respect or compassion while in significant pain. At one point, I requested that my IV be removed. In response, the nurse was inches from my face, raised her voice, and stated “NO” before leaving the room. This interaction left me feeling intimidated and distressed. Due to the way I was treated, I ultimately removed the IV myself and attempted to leave the facility. I was subsequently stopped by staff, and the nurse was removed from my care.

I came to the ER following a ski accident at Mount Snow and was genuinely impressed. The doctor and staff were professional, compassionate, and attentive, and they made a stressful situation feel much more manageable.

I was taken by ambulance to the hospital for intense, intestinal pain, nausea, and vomiting at the hospital. The nurses admitted me only for nausea and vomiting did nothing to treat pain repeatedly. Move my bed up to where I was sitting in a position that hurt my back despite me having to ask multiple times for them not to do that. I was told I couldn’t eat anything because I needed bloodwork but was ignored for three hours and eventually had to ask somebody for help because I felt so weak. I could barely keep myself awake. I was in a hallway bed and repeatedly walked by by nurses and not even looked at. After they finally did bloodwork and it came back normal. They went back to being extremely dismissive, even though I was still complaining about severe intestinal pain and was discharged
