I am extremely disappointed with the level of care and compassion we experienced at Beebe Hospital’s Emergency Room. After my niece was involved in a car accident, we brought her to the ER expecting urgent medical attention. Instead, she was made to sit in the lobby for nearly four hours without being evaluated or treated. Watching a loved one wait that long after a traumatic event was both distressing and unacceptable. What made the situation worse was the lack of empathy and accountability from the ER front desk staff. Our repeated requests for updates or assistance were met with indifference. I could have given 5 stars for excellence. This is in regards to the Beebe Surgical Hospital, Rte 24 Rehoboth Beach. Care was excellent from checking in with the receptionist, to registration, then on the pre-op staff, discrete patient progress reporting system, PACU, then straight to the patient room and post-op care, PT and discharge. EXCEPT- they lost my precription glasses which I last wore aigning pre-op paperwork after seeing the anesthesiologist, and immediately prior to OR entry. I have requested a search for my prescription eyeglasses as I have severe astigmatism and moderate presbyopia and could not read without them, yet they could not seem to find them. Was sent here by Beebe’ south coastal campus for emergency surgery. Sat in an exam room for over 30 minutes. When a nurse finally came to the room she acted as if we didn’t know what we were talking about. In addition the exam room was filthy, trash on the floor and trash can overflowing. Additionally there were medical records from a previous patient.

My husband and I ended up in the hospital together very recently. My husband had bypass surgery and me pneumonia. We both were very impressed with the doctors, nurses and all the staff. They were phenomenal. Even the food was great. It couldn't have happened to us at a worse time. Very pleasant and helpful medical professionals. I would definetly recommend the hospital. Not one complaint. Keep up the great work.

If I could give a zero, I would. I absolutely do NOT (and would not ever) recommend Dr. Diana Dickson-Witmer, head of breast cancer, at Beebe. Her bedside manner with my 80 y/o Mother in Law, who was battling breast cancer, was so terrible we asked for (demanded) another doctor. I'm not questioning her knowledge, but I am fully questioning her ability to care for patients as they should be cared for during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
