Autumn Lake Healthcare at Silver Spring

I want to believe this place is a healthy place for my mom who is stuck in this place because our family can’t find a place for her stay with us instead unfortunately. I hate the vibe of the facility, it’s not welcoming and is very depressing. My mom is always dirty and I wish the care team would clean her more and help her stay normal and decent at the very least. I know it’s so much work to take care of disabled people like my mom but she deserves the world like everyone and dignity. My mom deserves to be clean at the very least even though it is difficult. I don’t know how to feel about her stay here.

For many years I have visited friends at this nursing home,and assisted living center for rehab, etc.. The one person who really stands out as someone who truly seems to care about the mental health of the residents, is the Activities Director, Shellie. Year round Shellie puts great effort and passion into a wide variety of activities, to keep the residents happy and engaged. She always seems happy to help, and you can't miss her, she's a tall blond with a presence that lights up the room. Keep doing great things to make others happy Shellie! I would NEVER recommend this facility for anyone. If you care about your loved ones this is NOT the place for them. While, there were a few nurses/aids that stood out, the vast majority of the staff there lack compassion, empathy, respect or care for the people they are paid to care for. Hello It started out a little scary for me I didn't know the building, and I didn't get a tour which would've been helpful with building navigation. There were times when the nurses would leave my brother's meals in front of him, even when knowing full well he couldn't use his hands. We had to wait far too long for my brother to get changed, and my sister in law and I had to clean him on several occasions. Despite this, I really appreciated it when I got notified by the nurses when my brother fell off the bed, to let me know he was ok. The nurses also comforted him when he would cry thinking he didn't see us (my sister- in- law and I). Though on another visit we found bruises he didn't had when we came to see him the next day. Our experience with Autumn Lake Healthcare at Silver Spring was deeply troubling and disappointing. From the moment we entered the facility, the lack of professionalism and care was evident. Staff were consistently rude, unwelcoming, and inattentive—many times they didn’t even look up when approached. There was no clear check-in or visitor policy, which raised serious safety concerns. Anyone could seemingly walk in off the street, and the facility felt chaotic and unsecured. My mother’s room was dirty, and the level of hygiene was unacceptable.
