Autumn Lake Healthcare at Glade Valley

My husband and I were only there an hour and a half visiting a friend so not a lot to report. We were pleased to see what a neat and clean facility it was. The greeter at the front desk was very kind and welcoming. We also loved how cheerful and festive Glade Valley was. We’re sure the patients there feel that Christmas is alive and well.😊

I'm very happy with the care my sister in law is getting in the locked ward. The facility is clean and the staff is very caring. The only complaint I have is that in the past few months when I visit, her fingernails are very dirty & hands are sticky from the syrup she has with her meals. She's been your patient over 5 years and it is a new issue. The family is pleased that she's able to get communion and that she participated in the activities. Good job.

My sister was in for a month in Dec. The first thing I wae given a date for meeting upon arrival and I couldn't make it. It could not be changed because it's Christmas. This was from the social director and nursing director. Therefore I didn't get to attend the meeting.They need to get their act together or get help to solve the problem. It certainly isn't cheap to stay. The second issue is lights were not answered in a timely fashion. The longest wait I went and got someone which I should have done to begin with. was a n hour and 1/2. I was told the light wasn't on .Wet beds need attention. They really don't do lights in 20 minutes.This home has certainly gone down hill. My sister was in 3 other times, but this is the last time I would use this facility for anyone.I would not reccommend

The nursing staff and PT/OT staff are exceptional! All friendly, kind, and doing their best to keep up with an impossibly busy job. The doctors/nurse practitioners/physicians assistant are all good and should be credited with properly adjusting meds for my mother. Plenty of activities to keep patients busy when they don't have PT or OT. Only complaint would be the food which is hit or miss... Chicken is often good, but vegetables that are cooked beyond recognition with all nutritional value removed, and sometimes meals that were all starch like pizza with macaroni "salad" are not so good.

While the staff is really nice they are overwhelmed with their work. Not enough help for the patients. They often forget what the patients have asked for. I’m not saying they don’t care. I think they are just trying to do too many things at once. The housekeeping isn’t bad, but the smell is a little overwhelming once you pass through the double doors leading to Catoctin Ct. I don’t know about the rest of the building but that area needs some freshening.
