Ascension Saint Joseph - Chicago

I’ve had two visits here and it is my preferred hospital. I am leaving a review frankly after leaving a filthy hospital in Florida. St Joes is clean and efficient. They helped me with my issues, prescribed as necessary discharged with a plan. Saw an actual doctor. Still advocate for yourself. I went in once unsure of how much Tylenol I had taken and was being discharged with pain medicine for what was causing the pain in the first place, but did go back later after calling poison control about the potential of what I took. Having that more accurate they did liver testing when I went back when I was more clear about the potential amount I took, but it did turn out to not be a problem. Only giving 2 stars and all of those stars belong to the nursing staff and the ER charge nurse, Ashley (who truly deserve closer to 5 stars). I will say this, I got in relatively quick but I must have arrived during a shift change because once I was brought back to a room, I was left alone for quite some time. I had to have my partner go and ask for someone to see me. The doctor I saw was the most dismissive medical professional I had ever met. I was bleeding profusely and most likely hemorrhaging, but was essentially told to go home because my levels “weren’t low enough”. No physical exam was given, nothing to stop the bleeding, etc, despite me passing golf-ball sized clots. I was seen in the Ascension Saint Joseph–Chicago ER on 6/29/2025 by Dr. Lim (per my visit record). I came in with right-hip discomfort after a bed collapse at home and asked to make sure nothing serious was going on. After the visit, I reviewed my chart and later found entries that do not match what I reported during the encounter. For example, statements appear in the notes that I did not give, and important context about the bed incident was missing. On 9/25/2025 my patient portal also showed missing items (no recent visits/messages/billing visible). I saved date-stamped screenshots. Because this affects my ongoing care, I formally asked the hospital to: • give me a written amendment decision; • preserve complete audit data (who accessed/changed what, when, and how); • provide an Accou

Best hospital! I went in with pain in my lower right abdomen, and it turned out I needed my appendix removed. I got there around 1:30 and was already home by 9. Everyone was so kind, and the doctor who did my surgery was amazing!
