I had an emergency amputation that needed care immediately. They took us in and gave my pet top quality care on the spot. Dr Joy was very knowledgeable as well as skilled in dealing with this emergency. We couldn't have chosen a better facility. I highly recommend Arcata Animal hospital. Or 8-month-old pup jumped out the window down at the waterfront in Eureka. We went here for emergency care and they really took care of us. We left there with everything we could possibly need to make him comfortable and come the next day he was doing so much better. Thank you Dr Joy.

Holy smokes this places takes care of my (your) little pet so well. Dr. Joy is amazing, kind and gentle. She will not give up! My pup is forever in the debt of this fantastic place of healing. The staff is also super nice, welcoming, helpful and understanding! Love that this place exists, getting teary eyed just writing this.

I'll admit their pricing is a little steep compared to their competitors, but as a local who has trusted many fur babies to numerous local vets this is as good as it gets here. I've had other vets make things worse or refuse to give antibiotics to my cat with a dangerously high fever etc etc. 40+ years living in Humboldt and I can tell you "why not" for nearly every vet here. In the case of arcata animal hospital the only thing that bothers me is the price tag. I'd rather pay more and get this kind of service rather than lack trust in the one I need to help when things get bad. With that said hopefully they'll see this review appreciate the kudos AND reduce their ticket prices by about 10% across the board.

The vets are fantastic, thorough and willing to work with your pets needs. They accept CareCredit (deferred payment) and also treat exotics (birds, turtles, etc). Hot tip: you can purchase pet meds from another source like Chewy at a way cheaper rate, just ask and they will provide an Rx. Frank gives them 5 ⭐s!
