Amberwell Hiawatha

My elderly parents’ doctor is in Hiawatha. So in emergencies, they go to this hospital. They went to this hospital several times in the past with little to no help. This month my mother went (several times asking for help) because she was so sick and in so much pain, and couldn’t breathe. They checked out her lungs and said that she was fine. I talked her into going to Mosaic in Saint Joseph Mo. They found that she had pneumonia. Any hospital that can’t catch pneumonia is not worth going to. And Hiawatha did not catch it AFTER CHECKING HER LUNGS and she drove all the way up there more then once asking for help, because she doesn’t live in town. She’s also had a broken back in the past and more. And they can’t seem to catch these things or figure them out. I went to one of the doctors in Hi

I’ve been going to this hospital since my pregnancy. They made me feel so comfortable and was always open to any questions I had. They made me feel safe. Then when it came time to be induced. They made sure I was hydrated and not in any pain. It was amazing for my first experience. They generally cared about me and my baby. They kept encouraging me and gave me lots of sleep. I still go for my baby check ups and they always treat me with respect.

If i could give 0 stars I would. i went in because my leg was purple and going numb and they told me i had a muscle strain, next day, not even 24hours later im sent to the ER in sabetha and driven by ambulance to Kansas City and spend 3 days in the ICU because of blood clots, and an Ovary had grown over a vein. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the service i received from Hiawatha Hospital, I could have lost my leg or my life because they couldn’t take the time to fully look into my problems.

If I could give a zero, I would. I was told this morning that the hospital is still working with my insurance for a $57+ balance but they sent me to a collection agency for the remainder. 🙄 I advised the billing person that I just received a notice from my insurance company on Mon., 3/10 of what costs Wouldn't be covered by insurance. I asked how the hospital is still negotiating with my insurance for a small amount but sent me to collections for the larger amount? She couldn’t explain that to me. I guess they’re waiting to send me to collections for the small amount as well. Sad. It’s no wonder small town hospitals are going under with these types of practices.

We want to send a special thank you to the emergency team who took exceptional care of our sick daughter Rosie. We were visiting from out of the country, and Cassie and Kate really came to our rescue. Their bedside manners were phenomenal, and they were patient, efficient, and knowledgeable. They listened to our concerns with empathy and made sure Rosie was on the road to a quick recovery. Thanks for everything, Cassie and Kate!
