Dr. McLawhorn did both my hip replacement surgeries, with the most recent one done just 6 weeks ago--both experiences have been very smooth and practically painless. Recovery has been very quick, did not even need physical therapy. I would highly recommend him. He is one of the few surgeons in CT that can perform robotic-assisted hip replacement surgery.

Dr. Alexander McLawhorn is fabulous! He did a total left hip replacement on me over one year ago. The care in HSS was the best and I believe helped to contribute to my very fast recovery. Dr. McLawhorn is meticulous and caring, and has a wonderful bedside manner. I healed with no pain, just discomfort for a short while, and I feel that I owe it all to Dr. McLawhorn. Without hesitation I recommend Dr. Alexander McLawhorn for anyone who needs knee replacement surgery. In Feb 2024 I had Dr. McLawhorn do my right total knee replacement. In Feb 2025 when I was then 79 y.o. he did my left total knee replacement. And now Feb. 2026 I just had my final 1 year post op visit. I feel great— no pain, full mobility (exercise class 3x week, tai chi 2x week, walk mile 3-4 x week) & no complications!
