Albany Medical Center: Genetics and Metabolism Department

My son has a rare genetic disorder and was referred to see Dr. Hajainpour. Due to the long wait for the appointment, I spent significant time researching my son’s condition. I want to begin by saying the nursing staff was exceptional—kind, compassionate, and patient. They deserve 5 stars. Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Hajainpour was extremely disappointing. He stated he had never heard of my son’s disorder, arrived with articles that appeared freshly printed, and asked me what I knew about it. He then questioned why I was there and made a dismissive comment about my “Google degree,” despite the fact that I hold a Master’s degree in child development. I'll start by saying IF Dr. Hajianpour wasn't the only doctor on staff here it would be 5 stars. The staff are all great and the facility is fine but that's where it ends. I'm sure the above Dr was very knowledgeable back in 1955 but his understanding of ASD turns my stomach. At best he is dated and at worst he's an ableist and pushes eugenetics ideas.

Very experienced, knowledgeable, and kind staff. Dr. H was very thorough and the genetic counselor was extremely kind and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!
