Took my senior father who is near 90 and hearing impaired. Right to begin with, I personally was struggling to understand Dr Gilani. He spoke very fast & with a strong accent. I kindly explained that my Dad has a serious hearing deficit and that he needs people to speak a little slower & louder in order to understand what is being said so that he can fully participate in his own medical care. Dr Gilani immediately responded that he is a 63 year old, this is how he talks, and we can’t expect to change it. Then he told us, “You will get used to it.” When I insisted Dad cannot follow the conversation if we don’t modify it, he literally told us we should have gone to a different practice. My grandfather was referred to Dr Gilani and we were very impressed with his level of care and how thoroughly he explained things to my grandfather and I. He actually told me at the end of his visit that he cared for my grandfather just as he would have his own father and I truly believe that he did. The office staff was great too, as well as a nice and clean office space. 10/10 recommend!

Dr. Gilani was very knowledgeable, kind, and respectful of my concerns. He was very reassuring and did a comprehensive neuro exam, which you would think would be standard if you are seeing a neurologist, but apparently it’s not. I went to Raleigh neurology previously where the neurologist barely took any time with me and didn’t do an exam that remotely resembled the full neurologic exam I received with Dr Gilani. I came to Dr. Gilani as a second opinion, and I’m so glad I did! Also, he didn’t act like he was rushed and made sure before he left that all my questions and concerns were addressed. Top-notch!

Dr. Gilani is direct, earnest and caring. He's honest about the limits of his practice and the complexities of neurology. He provided thorough work-ups for me on several occasions to rule out major disorders and suggested referrals for comprehensive assessments of rarer conditions, which are beyond the scope of his practice.
