Afsar M. Waraich, MD - Palmetto Gastroenterology & Hepatology

I had an appointment for Consultation - General on March 5, 2026 at 01:15 PM at PGH Aiken. I arrived at 1:02. Receptionist was very nice, filled out required paperwork, scanned ID and insurance cards. So far so good. Nurse called me promptly to the back. Very pleasant, weighed me and took my blood pressure, showed me to the examination room @ 1:15. So far so good. One hour later no one had contacted me, no one explained the delay. One hour in the exam room with no contact. I understand things can happen, but what would it take for someone to stick their head in and update me on what to expect. I have never experienced anything like this in any health care provider ever. Totally unacceptable, I walked out. Full disclosure, this appointment was not with Afsar M. Waraich, MD. My two dealings

Some of the reviews say the doctors here are amazing but unfortunately I couldn't even make it back to talk to one. They over scheduled themselves and instead of calling and asking to reschedule my appointment they had me wait in the waiting room for over an hour while the nurses and front office staff where laughing and joking around. When I went up to the front desk to reschedule my appointment for a time that may work better she notified me there are always only two doctors working. Im unsure what this means, I tried clarifying if she meant they always over schedule the doctors and she only repeated that there are only two doctors that work there. After finally getting her to reschedule my appointment my name got called to go to the back and I let her know that I rescheduled my appointm

Referred for next day appointment by ER. Called and left messages several times all week. Can't speak to a person and their robo-promised call backs never came. I can only presume they have no time for new patients. They could at least have said so. Even the nursing station didn't answer. SMH

This was my first colonoscopy performed by Palmetto Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The previous doctor who had performed ALL of my previous colonoscopies retired earlier this year, so I chose to give Palmetto Gastro my business. This was also convenient because Palmetto Gastro performs their procedures at the same wonderful facility as my previous doctor, The Center For Colon & Digestive Diseases on Gregg Ave in Aiken.
