Currently in the ER still. Came in as a transfer patient for a VCAP to rule out pulmonary embolisms since the Ct Scan at Adventist Germantown wasn’t fully conclusive with the mistiming of contrast. My sister has been in the ER since 3:30 am and is exhausted. We’ve been here in this hospital since 8am and it’s taken forever to get anything done. The test was ordered before we were transferred how is it that no one knows the eta on it actually getting completed? This environment isn’t conducive to rest, health or healing.

This was the worst hospital experience I have ever had, and I would never recommend Shady Grove Medical Center to anyone. My mother was hospitalized here for almost two weeks, and nearly every department failed her — nursing staff, doctors, dietary, and especially case management. The nursing care was unacceptable. My mother, who is under 50 and was able to walk prior to being in the hospital however in the hospital she needed some assistance, was forced to wear a diaper because nurses did not want to help her to the bathroom. As a result, she was left sitting in her own waste, with soiled bedding not changed until I complained. She was not properly repositioned, which led to bed sores while still soiled — a serious infection risk. Staff were often rude and dismissive, and my mother had

I had an excellent experience at Adventist Hospital–Shady Grove. From Pre-Op through Post-Surgery, every step of my care was exceptional. Every nurse and healthcare worker I encountered made me feel genuinely cared for and supported. Even the reception staff went above and beyond, reassuring my mom when my time in the recovery room took longer than expected. During recovery, I stopped breathing twice because I was groggy from the medication and kept falling asleep, but the nurses responded immediately and helped me stabilize and breathe properly. Their quick action and calm professionalism made a frightening moment feel manageable. The discharge nurses were just as compassionate, taking the time to thoroughly explain everything my mom and I needed to know to support my recovery at home. Af

Came in for some bodymod work - a subdermal implant (port). I'm not new to piercings or tattoos, but this was a first for me so the nerves were high. For those wondering, They do *not* offer sponge baths or happy endings. What better do at to calm the nerves? They do offer ginger ale. Adjust your expectations accordingly. The staff were super friendly from the start — relaxed, professional, and cracking jokes that actually helped calm my nerves. Yes, there was a blood (as one might reasonably expect when putting holes in oneself), but everything was handled quickly and hygienically.

I recently had my port insertion procedure at AHC Shady Grove, and I’m truly grateful for the amazing care I received. The doctors and nurses were very warm, gentle, and attentive throughout the process. They made me feel calm and comfortable from start to finish. The discharge nurse was kind — she explained everything clearly and shared helpful information for my recovery. I could really feel how much they care about their patients. Thank you to the whole team for your kindness and professionalism
