AdventHealth Medical Group Gastroenterology at Porter

I’m disappointed at the lack of customer care in the part of the Practice Manager for this group. I called with a concern and she expressed apologies and stated this concern would not occur again. I’m glad to hear this, but it did not fix my issue. She “shushed” me while I was telling her why I understood, to a degree, her authority level as I hold a similar position in a veterinary hospital. She offered to send my concern to the Director but that he might not respond as he doesn’t normally “deal with patient concerns like these”. This was all surprising as I’ve received the absolute best service in other parts of the Adventist Health system. I may have continuing GI concerns and would have been happy to have found a good provider but deserve to be heard and treated respectfully. Th

Lizbeth Gibson was easily the best gastroenterologist I've been to! I am very happy with how thorough she was and how incredibly nice her demeanor is! I highly recommend her if you have any abdominal pain or need for a gastroenterologist. I have been struggling to diagnose my celiacs since I had already quit eating gluten before my previous tests... But I feel I'm on the right path now thanks to her! I appreciate your great work and I'm glad to have found your office, Thank you guys.

3 weeks ago I called and made an appointment for a Monday morning endoscopy. On Friday at 4:45pm I get a call from the Insurnace department in the hospital that my insurance denied the procedure. She asks if the GI lab called me to let me know. This is the Friday before the Monday I need to come in at 6am. I had not heard from them. I called the GI lab and asked about the denied insurance. Joanne said that they can appeal it but because it’s 4:45pm on Friday and they have to clock out right away since they are not approved for overtime, it will have to be next week. My appointment was cancelled. Please note I had to request time off and arrange rides for this endoscopy, that had been scheduled for 3 weeks. Everyone was wonderful, very professional until the end when I was so anxious that I wanted to jump out of my skin! Upon my discharge my attending nurse responded to my anxiety by telling me that she was following hospital protocols, that I needed to consider that my actions could cost her her license. It’s not my job to protect her job and a more appropriate response might have been to ask another person to intercede to allay my anxiety.
